My travel around the world has officially started. My first destination was Singapore. I have never travelled to Singapore before so the entire trip was a big adventure for me. As I have finally arrived at the airport, after a long flight, I took direction to my first destination in Singapore, the Swissôtel Merchant Court..
The Swissôtel Merchant Court is a very well centered hotel, next to Clarke Quay. I have been so excited to stay at a Swissôtel hotel for the first time. In the past I have already read amazing reviews about Swissôtels and their service so I have been excited for myself to call the Swissôtel Merchant Court “ home” for the first days of my trip in Singapore.
As I have arrived at the hotel I was welcomed with a small bag including goodies from the hotel. Even though the hotel is located in Singapore it still has the signature “Swiss style”. Some of you might remember it hasn't been that long ago since I went to Switzerland, so to stay with the Swissôtel definitely threw me back into memories to those wonderful days in Switzerland.
Arrived at my room I have been
spoiled with a breathtaking view on the Singapore skyline. My arrival was in
the evening so I was able to see Singapore by night with all those beautiful
lights. Singapore is a fascinating metropolis and it's so different from the
other Asian countries.
Beside my wonderful room and
the breathtaking views from my window I also enjoyed that the hotel is located
in Chinatown so all sights we are nearby in walking distance.
The hotel features a total of
467 rooms. The Swissôtel expresses luxury through every corner of the house but
still it is available on a budget with deals staring from 130€ on Accor hotels
per night. Another difference from other Asian countries is also that Singapore
is more expensive in general. Knowing that I have actually been surprised that
the hotel had a reasonable pricing, which is affordable for travelers.
As I have arrived late in the
night I enjoyed a snack in the lounge of the hotel before I went straight to
bed. The
lounge also offers lunch options and various snacks through out the day. Also, complementary drinks so as bottled water will be
available in the lounge.
The room was featuring a king
size bed beside a desk and a long entrance hall where I stored all my luggage.
The bathroom of my room also featured a bathtub so as a shower.
The room service was very
dedicated to even improve my stay and offered me a full-time service. I had a
lot of requests about breakfast or certain timings and the reception was always
very kind and helpful. I mention that because as a solo traveler in a foreign country
in Asia it's good to know that a hotel is very supportive to you. A good
example for that is that the hotel has arranged "handy" phones for
the guests.
I have been introduced to “handy”
for the first time when I was in China last year. A “handy” device provides
unlimited calls national and international, so as unlimited internet access,
specials deals and of course access on maps.
After exploring my room intensively,
I went down for breakfast and again I was very surprised and happy at the same
time. The breakfast area of the Swissôtel is extremely huge. The offered buffet
will fulfill every kind of appetite and diet. The team at the restaurant
is very well organized and the entire area is very clean. The service is very
fast and all information of ingredients are visibly declared.
After breakfast, it was
finally time to explore the spa and pool area. Since I am from Germany I'm not
used to this kind of heat but I love the Asian heat and I was so happy to cool
down by the pool. The pool is located on the second floor and is giving a view
above Chinatown and the Singapore skyline. The area is very quiet and well
supplied with towels and day beds. Snacks and drinks will also be served
through an additional charge.
The spa area is just next to
the pool. I haven't been able to join any of the spa treatments but I was
allowed to explore the spa facilities which included a steamed bath.
Next to the spa and the pool
guests will also find access to the gym. The gym is well equipped. Besides the
fact that I love sports I can tell that's sports will help you to get relieved
of a jet leg.
I have been supported by Accor
hotels and Swissôtel for the stay at the Swissôtel Merchant Court and can
honestly recommend it, especially on short stays this hotel is perfect. The
concierge will support one with maps and also the "handy" device
is for a complimentary use during ones stay.
I hope you enjoyed this travel
and hotel recommendation of my first days in Singapore. Please do also look on my social media channels for

Court.
