Within my Maldives Trip I also discovered the villas of Sun Aqua Vilu Reef. For one night I traveled to the luxurious island and enjoyed one of the 103 exquisite Luxury Villas, 6 Suites, 62 Land Villas, and 35 Over Water Villas. This resort got all those covered who are looking for an outstanding experience..
As I was staying in the sister resort, the Sun Iru Fushi the night before, it was a smooth continue of an amazing time with The Sun Siyam resorts. However, both resorts are pretty much split from each other and I had to take another plane from MalĂ© airport. After roughly 70 minutes I had arrived at yet another breathtaking island and the “casually playful” Sun Aqua resort. Compared to the sister resort this resort is more suitable for action interested travelers. The resort is as well suitable for families and couples but has more of a younger twist.
After arriving with the seaplane, I got off to the bar, where I was greeted with a welcome drink, that is by the way a wonderful coconut. It was definitely a right sign for me that I had just arrived at the perfect place.
Next on my schedule was a little tour around the small(er) island. The island is easy to explore by walking and that´s why the resort doesn´t offer a buggy service. My first stop has been the gym to explore, which is right next to the bar. Also, a spa is provided in the resort with a lovely garden scenery and many treatment rooms, including bathtubs as well. I sadly haven´t had too much time at the resort to book an appointment, but the spa was busy anyways.
The Sun Aqua resort hosts 2 restaurants and two bars. There is one fine dining restaurant, which is specialized on fish dishes and another buffet restaurant that is located by pool, where one will also find the pool bar. The other bar is in the front, next to the reception and offers entertainment and other amenities.
My favorite place has however become my villa. With a wonderful plunge pool and direct beach access, I simply couldn´t ask for more. Also, a cabana swing in front of the beach with views on the ocean were another sweet addition to the land villa.
For a great calm down the villa was additionally supplied with an outdoor shower, a shower cabin and a bathtub. The bathroom is outdoor but well sheltered and I can tell it is an amazing feeling to shower under the stars with the sounds of the ocean in the background.
The whole island has a little jungle look with a bunch of colorful flowers, a wide white sands beach area, water sports and a clear but simple layout that makes it easy for guests to get around. Also, there is a kid’s corner, where parents can leave their kids for a little break in the paradise. Beside that the kids also have plenty of entertainment and an own pool as well. For Christmas there will be per example also baking classes. The whole service is on a complimentary basis.
During my stay I tried the buffet restaurant next to the pool for dinner and breakfast. I really liked the wide selection and fresh food and live cooking stations. Per example for the dinner it was a lovely addition to have local food and get an impression of the Maldivian cuisine and the main dishes being presented.
Also, there is a selection of more international and Asian foods and fruits, so as a salad bar. For the sweet tooth’s there is even an ice cream station within the buffet, beside other deliciously looking treats. Also for the breakfast the buffet is wide spread and there is, similar to the dinner, also live cooking and fruit and salad bars. Also, a fresh juice station is offered during breakfast.
Something different of all other resorts I experienced in the Sun Aqua resort has been the Maldivian night. Every Friday the resort celebrated Maldivian night in the bar next to the reception, where the staff will present the Maldivian dance and even gusts have the chance to come on stage for a dance. I obviously joined for the party as well and it really has been fun.
On the other day it was already my departure day.
It was a little more sad than usual for me, as the resort was celebrating its
anniversary on my departure date and I just missed the celebration.
However, it is a wonderful resort with great offers. I had so many nice experience. Per example I had the pleasure to see some Mantas during the daily feeding, to dance the Maldivian dance and to enjoy a lovely mocktail in my swing under the stars. Thanks to the Sun Aqua hotel for the lovely hosting, it has been a pleasure and I hope to see myself back some day.
