As you guys might have enjoyed my Kyoto article about the stay at Grand Prince Kyoto you have been aware that I was also staying at the Prince hotel in lake Biwa Otsu, which is just 10 minutes away from Kyoto station. Within this article I want to take you through the hotel and introduce you to the 529 guest room hotel..
The hotel has a total for 38 floors and is well known for its magnificent views above Otsu. Each room has an unique lake view and offers unique views. The hotel got recently renovated and finished all guestrooms in March 2018. The colors of the design are based on nature, like mountains and of course the sea. The hotel is surrounded by mountains as well and as a stylish sense for interior, which looks elegant and peaceful.
Through to my full schedule I arrived late on the first day. I was happy to be able to take the free hotel shuttle from Otsu station and simply fall into the comfortable seats inside the bus. After a few minutes we already reached the hotel where I have been amazed by a huge lightened tree, which got me a festivities holiday mood and I replied with a wide smile.
Entering the wide spaced lobby, I was greeted with a warm smile and brought to the check in counter, where I received the key for my room, located in the 34th floor. While Otsu is a beautiful place it self with a wide range of activities, photo spots and things to do and to discover, the lobby itself is also a beautiful photo location and quite popular for the staying guests as well.
Tired but happy I was ready to make myself a room in the Eizan floor double room time, from where I enjoyed a view above the whole lake which looked stunning with all the tiny lights in the night, creating an unforgettable image.
Early in the morning I woke up after sleeping like a baby in the huge bed. Taking the elevator into the 37th floor I joined the Buffet restaurant lake view dining biona for breakfast. There is also a Japanese set breakfast in the 36th floor. A little surprised I must admit that I was relieved that there was such a wide variety of vegan dishes at the buffet, besides regular western foods and Japanese cuisine.
As I already discovered the pool from my room view, I was excited to see it myself in the morning. The bottom of the pool even says Otsu. The pool area is wide spaces but due to regulations only open in summer. However, the Lobby Lounge Port Nio, which reopened in November 2017 offers views all around the year.
Besides it is worth to mention that guests are also free to send their luggage from Kyoto station to lake Biwa Otsu hotel, of course without a charge. Due to the fact that it was my last night in Otsu I decided to head for the Sky lounge, located in the 38th floor on my last evening, to enjoy the wide views and give my stay a proper farewell. The area of Otsu has much to offer, so as a port at the hotel, where guests can take a lovely cruise, besides there are various temples, local shops, so as festivals and fireworks, so make sure to visit Otsu when traveling Japan.
